Helical Screw Pile Installation - Bethany Beach, DE

Apex Construction just completed the installation of 11 helical screw piles to replace rotten wood pilings holding up a house in Bethany Beach, DE.  The wooden piles were so rotted above and below grade that helical screw piles had to be used to totally replace the load bearing requirements to securely keep the house in place.  Helical screw pilings were driven down to a predetermined depth and torq requirement per engineered specifications based on soil boring analysis and load bearing requirements.

Apex Construction is a certified contractor for installating helical screw piles.  Helical screw piles are not always needed to replace old rotten wood piles.  In most cases, the wood piles are still solid below the surface where anaerobic soil conditions hinder the decay process.  In these cases Apex Construction will use a concrete and rebar collar connection to join a new pile ontop the exsisting solid one below grade.  However, this was not the case for this house in Bethany Beach, DE.  The exsisting wooden piles were deterioated well below grade making it impossible to use a concrete/rebar collar.

The helical screw piles used on this job were attached using a welded pile cap to galvanised bracket which was then through bolted to the wooden pile.  We can also make the connections below grade so no brackets are showing above the soil surface.  Engineered plans and soil boring analysis are required among other technical installation experience and equipment provided by Apex Construction.  We can help you determine the best replacement method for your rotting wood pilings.  Please call us today for more information and a sceduled free visit to your site.
